Common Abbreviations:

     An asterik * means to repeat directions following the * as many extra times as specified.
Repeat instructions in parentheses as many times as specified. For example: (5ch, dc into next dc) 5 times; means to make all that is in the brackets 5 times.
Multiple means the number of stitches necessary to complete one pattern. If the pattern is 4 sts, the number of chains should be easily divisble by 4. If the pattern reads "multiple of 4 sts plus 1" then an extra chain stitch is required in addition to the multiple of 4.
